Warrant Article #2, the bond for all school improvements was voted down 2-1. Look for the follow up meeting and another vote...
All school Improvements, including the addition and parking were voted down 2-1, despite facts presented by Darlene Mann from the HB COOP Budget Committe showing a slight increase in the school tax rate (pennies per thousand) with a new $5.5M bond from 2014-2017, and then a decrease in 2018 due to the middle school bond being paid off. As interest rates climb, these overdue improvements will only become more expensive. See Claremont's high school renovation web page, Why This Matters. Their $12.5M bond with 3.25% interest for 20 years passed in 2012, after being narrowly rejected in 2010.
